The quick way
No walking, no furniture.
- Open
VTTin the header and pickStart here. On a phone it's in the menu drawer, under the same name. - Find Start a game. It asks one thing: What are you starting?
- Answer it.
A one-offβ tonight only. That's the whole form. It's named after the evening.A campaignβ something that comes back next week. Give it a name and pressStart. One of mineβ a campaign you already run, or a game you packed up. (It's only there if you have one.)
- Read where you've been put. The page says Youβre at a table., and which one. You didn't have to pick; a free one was found for you.
- Invite people. The codes and a link for each are right there, with a
Copybeside every one. Send the campaign link now if it's a campaign. The link to tonight's table starts working once you've opened the game to players, which is the last step of the wizard. - Press
Go to the table. The map opens, and so does the setup wizard, because an empty table has exactly one useful next action. Set Up a Map takes it from there.
That's a game. Somebody with your code types it into Join a game on the same menu and they're sitting opposite you.
The same thing, on foot
Everything above also exists as a place. It takes a little longer and you get a fire.
- Go into the tavern.
- Walk to an empty table and press a chair. You're sitting down.
- Press the folded map on the table. It says
Lay a game out, and it's only there on an empty table you're sitting at. - Pick
Something new, orOne of yoursβ¦for a campaign or a game you packed up. - You're at the map, wizard and all.
Campaigns are kept in a book on the corner desk in the workshop, which is out of the tavern's front door and across the square. That's where you begin one, find its invite code, and set the next date.
They're the same table
This is the part worth knowing. A game you start from the list isn't in a list. It's on a table in the tavern with its lamp lit, and See it in the tavern on the seated card will show you which. The list is just a shorter walk to it.
So start however you like tonight β and then go and have a look at the room at some point. There's a Show me round again in the corner that'll walk you through it in five stops, the regulars will talk if you stand them a drink, and there's a cat. She won't care that you came. The Tavern is the full tour; Run a Session is what to do once people are actually sitting down.
