The RNGESUS app is available on the App Store for iOS. Search for "RNGESUS" or just click the link from our website. It costs $0.99 — roughly the price of a single gummy bear at a movie theater, and significantly more useful.

Requirements

• iPhone 7 or later (NFC reading capability required)
• iOS 13.0 or later
• About 50MB of storage space
• A deep, abiding love for randomness (optional but recommended)

First Launch Setup

When you first open the app, you'll be asked to create an account or sign in. We support email registration and social sign-in options. Pick whichever makes you feel safest — we're not judging.

You'll also be asked to enable NFC permissions. Please say yes. Without NFC, the app is just a very underwhelming random number generator with delusions of grandeur.

Common Issues & Fixes

The app won't read my dice

Make sure NFC is enabled on your phone (Settings → NFC on most devices). Hold the die against the upper back portion of your phone — that's where the NFC antenna usually hides. If it still won't work, try removing your phone case. Some cases are NFC-blocking, which is annoying but apparently a thing.

My rolls aren't syncing

Check your internet connection. The app will store rolls locally if you're offline and sync them when you're back online. If rolls still aren't appearing on the web dashboard, try pulling down to refresh or logging out and back in. The classic fixes.

The app is running slowly

Try closing the app completely and reopening it. If that doesn't help, check if you have the latest version installed. We're constantly making improvements, which is a polite way of saying we're constantly fixing bugs.

I forgot my password

Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login screen. We'll send you an email to reset it. If you're not getting the email, check your spam folder — we promise we're not actually spam, even if our marketing emails are enthusiastic.

What the app deliberately doesn't do: the virtual tabletop and the tavern live in the browser, including the browser on the phone you're holding. Native versions of those are on the list, but the mobile web versions are the supported route and they work — so the app concentrates on the one thing only it can do, which is talk to the tags.

Offline Mode

Yes, the app works offline. You can still roll dice without an internet connection — the results are generated locally. However, your rolls won't sync to the cloud until you're back online, and social features obviously require internet.

Think of offline mode as "survival mode." You can roll, but you're on your own out there.

Android Version?

Not yet, but it's on the roadmap. Developing for two platforms is roughly twice as much work (who knew?), and we're a small operation. If you'd like to help speed things along, buying dice or spreading the word helps more than you'd think.
